About the Mirage

Hi my name is Joe Villareal. I am the owner operator of the charter boat Mirage. I have been a recreational and commercial fisherman in Southern California 30 out of my 42 years of age. I have been operating charter and open party boats since I was 19. For the most part I have been located in the Channel Islands area. I have operated boats in San Diego, San Pedro, Channel Islands and Morro Bay. I have owned the Mirage operating out of Port Hueneme California for the last thirteen years.

On the Mirage we have a five person crew. We carry two deckhands a cook and two captains. Other than myself there are three other captains on the Mirage. Louie Abbott, Fred Mathis and Tucker McCombs. Together they have over 70 years experience fishing in Southern California.

As you well know there are no guaranties in fishing. But I can guarantee that each and every time we go fishing on the Mirage we will have a professional and courteous crew and I will give 110% trying to find the best fishing experience the ocean has to offer on that day.

On the Mirage, we offer season long service in the Channel Islands area. We do not migrate back and forth to San Diego. We are here year round and offer one of few overnight services in the area as well as local trips.

The Mirage operates out of Port Hueneme harbor. There is no office, we do all the business on the boat rent rods, sell tickets, we have one day fishing licenses and tackle. We also take credit cards with advance notice.
